“At some point, the word “victim” was taken from us. I’m don’t know exactly when this began, and I’m not at all clear on most of the details of how it happened, but I do know that Naomi Wolf wrote a book called Fire With Fire in the 1990s and in this book she writes about “victim feminism”, which, supposedly, by focusing on women’s vulnerability to rape, harassment, violence, makes us feel disempowered and helpless. This underestimates women’s ability to be powerful and achieve positions of authority. The type of feminism which Wolf advocates, in contrast to “victim feminism”, is “power feminism”.”
